Revolutionary flute

October 9, 2016 @ 4:00 pm

ThornhamAngel

Revolutionary Flute Quartets is the title of a concert in the Church of St Mary Magdalene, Thornham Magna on Sunday, 9 October at 4pm.
The musical culture of innovation at the Manheim court helped to ferment the new Classical style in the mid 18th century and a new era in musical history came into being. But soon the age of political Revolution would begin and composers were forced to cross frontiers in the search for employment….
On the occasion of the release of a brand new recording of flute quartets entitled Mozart, Manheim & Paris, leading exponent of historical flutes Rachel Brown comes to Thornham with members of the Revolutionary Drawing Room, four musicians who will bring depth of knowledge and experience to bear on performances of great style and verve.

The concert is part of the Music at Thornham series.

The programme includes
Flute Quartet in D major, K 285 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-91)
Concertino 2 in E minor, GUN 23 Johann Baptist Wendling (1723-1797)
Flute Quartet in D minor, op. 56 no. 2 Franz Danzi (1763-1826)
